Pope Francis in America: John Boehner’s Resignation

According to the New York Times , Speaker of the house, John A. Boehner, an Ohio barkeeper’s son who rode a conservative wave to one of the highest positions in government, said Friday he would relinquish his gavel and resign from Congress, undone by the very Republicans who swept him into power.

Mr. Boehner, 65, made the stocking  announcement in an emotional meeting with his fellow Republicans on Friday morning , says,  the New York Times,  as lawmakers struggled to avert a government shutdown next week, a possibility made less likely by his decision. Mr. Boehner told almost no one of his decision before making it Friday morning.

“So before I went to sleep last night, I told my wife, I said, ‘You know, I might just make an announcement tomorrow,’” Mr. Boehner said at a  news conference in the Capitol. “This morning I woke up, said my prayers, as I always do, and thought, ‘This is the day I am going to do this.’”

Some say, Mr, Boehner was moved  by Pope Francis’s address to congress on Thursday, others might say, maybe it’s time for some new blood. Nevertheless, I am so proud of Mr, boehner. I believe that in life we all have our personal battles to fight, and decisions to make affirmed. In Mr, boehner’s case, it was just that. They are those that dislike Mr, boehner, but I speak not from a political stand point, but from a human and christian one.

God chooses who He wants to sit in power, and Mr, boehner did his duty well as he could. Let’s put ourselves in his shoes!! We do not share his burdens, nor do we share in his joy. My only hope is that Mr, boehner, can live in peace, without scrutiny and judgement.

“Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith.
Hebrews 13:7

I pray for America, and for our President, that we may grow and blossom in unity. Because, we all need to help one another, to achieve the goals we all share together. In the pursuit of happiness to live free and in peace.

God bless you, God bless John Boehner, God bless Pope Francis, and God bless America.
