Wednesday Premiere Night: Star

Fox’s new show Star is another gem to add into Producer and Director Lee Daniels collection.  Mr. Daniels is also the creator of Empire among other  films. Even though we have see many shows about real life stories about fame and money, this show brings the true story behind the real stars. Being in the public eye we only see the glitz and the glamour, but if you do not see the root of the tree you will never understand the full story. The show once again brings new actors and actresses to light, while giving so many little girls hope about their own lives.

Main cast

  • Jude Demorest as Star Davis, a tough 18-year-old who spent her childhood in and out of foster homes after the death of her mother, and who will do anything to become a star.
  • Ryan Destiny as Alexandra ‘Alex’ Crane, a wealthy 20-year-old who grew up in New York, but who, for years, has tried to put her privileged world behind her, so she can make real, authentic music.
  • Brittany O’Grady as Simone Davis, Star’s sister who dreams of the day Star will return to rescue her from the abusive foster home in which she was placed five years before.
  • Queen Latifah as Carlotta Brown, the owner of an Atlanta beauty salon, who will become a surrogate mother to the three girls, even though she doesn’t approve of their musical dreams.
  • Benjamin Bratt as Jahil Rivera,a talent manager with a hidden life and a drive for redemption, who believes the musical trio is his ticket back to the top.

  • Darius McCrary as Otis Leecan, Simone’s foster father.
